The Reality Check: Lessons from Singapore Stadium
Thou shalt not surrender

Trained hard, but sickness came around mid-March and I had to forgo my 20th March BKK race. I dealt with a significant infection that I only fully recovered from by late March. My strength and endurance were compromised, but Somehow I refused to surrender.

I approached the Men’s Open Singles race on 4th April at the Singapore National Stadium with caution. I knew I wasn't 100%, but I needed the data.

The Stats: 4th April Singapore Open

The Biological Disconnect

This was by far my worst performance on paper. The strange part? I didn’t feel the fatigue or slowness during the heat of the race. But the results don’t lie, and neither does the tech.

My Apple Watch showed I was working 59 minutes in Zone 4 and 54 minutes in Zone 5. My heart was red-lining, yet the output wasn't there. Obviously, my body wasn't in sync with my mind—a lingering effect of the infection and the "Anabolic Resistance" when our systems are taxed.

The Road Ahead

Do I change my target for a Men’s Pro Single debut in October? No. This isn't a failure; it’s just a bump on the road. The goal remains the same: Shanghai on October 31st. My build toward that Pro debut starts on 13th April. We reset, we refine the ENGINE and we go again.

Get to work.
